About
Assessment-Led Remedial Massage on the Gold Coast
Heal Young Massage is a Gold Coast–based remedial massage clinic offering assessment-led, evidence-based care for chronic pain, injury recovery, and enhanced movement performance.
Treatment is not approached as a relaxation-only massage. Each session is guided by clinical assessment, movement analysis, and an understanding of how soft tissue, load, and movement patterns interact. The aim is to address contributing factors to pain or dysfunction, support recovery, and help clients move with greater confidence and efficiency.
Heal Young Massage works with active adults, athletes, and individuals managing long-standing or complex conditions, with care tailored to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

About Hill Yang

Hill Yang is a Remedial Massage Therapist and Accredited Exercise Scientist with over 20 years of clinical experience, more than 20,000 hands-on clinical hours, and 25,000+ treatments delivered across community, rehabilitation, and performance settings.
His professional background spans exercise science, remedial massage therapy, sports training, gymnastics coaching and judging (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics), swimming and running coaching, and community athletics. Hill has also worked as part of the medical support team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
This breadth of experience allows Hill to approach care with a strong understanding of movement, tissue capacity, recovery, and load management — and to recognise when treatment should be modified, progressed, or supported by referral to other health professionals.
A Personal Journey Informing Clinical Insight
Hill’s pathway into health and rehabilitation is deeply personal. As a child, he experienced significant health challenges that required extensive medical support and prevented him from participating in physical activity until his mid-teens.
Through years of education, structured training, and disciplined progression, Hill gradually rebuilt his physical capacity. Over time, he completed a range of demanding endurance challenges, including:
-
Cycling 1,168 km around Taiwan in 6.5 days
-
Swimming 3 km across Sun Moon Lake
-
Completing a 123 km half-Ironman triathlon
-
Finishing multiple full-distance marathons
-
Supporting hundreds of runners to improve performance and achieve marathon goals
These experiences inform Hill’s practical understanding of adaptation, recovery, training load, and the realities of rebuilding physical capacity over time.
From Traditional Concepts to Evidence-Based Practice
Hill’s interest in massage therapy began in 2005. During the first eight years of practice, his work was influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, particularly concepts of circulation, balance, and whole-body interaction.
As his education and clinical exposure expanded, Hill increasingly integrated Western, movement-focused remedial massage, biomechanics, and exercise science. This evolution reflected both advances in evidence-based practice and his own lived experience of physical rehabilitation.
Today, Hill’s approach blends foundational concepts with modern assessment methods, focusing on movement quality, tissue capacity, and functional outcomes, rather than isolated techniques.
Supporting Complex and Long-Term Health Needs
Hill’s clinical experience extends beyond musculoskeletal pain alone. Over many years of practice, he has supported individuals with complex and long-standing health challenges, always working within an evidence-informed and client-centred framework.
This includes experience supporting:
-
Neurological conditions, including post-stroke rehabilitation, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and Guillain–Barré Syndrome (GBS)
-
Long-term stroke recovery, including improvements in functional hand strength and movement years after the initial event
-
Breathing dysfunction, supporting improved movement efficiency and functional capacity
-
Mental health and nervous system regulation, supporting return to functional daily life
-
Fertility-related challenges, where reducing myofascial stress and supporting nervous system balance may contribute to overall wellbeing
-
Developmental challenges in children, including movement coordination and functional motor skills
-
Gut-related and visceral sensitivity concerns, with care focused on nervous system regulation and physical balance
Each case is approached individually, with collaboration and referral where appropriate.
Additional Support Services
In addition to remedial massage, Hill may incorporate movement-based strategies and supportive modalities where appropriate, including:
-
Strength and conditioning support, focusing on muscle capacity, bone loading, balance, and functional movement for walking and running
-
Movement assessment and training, tailored to individual goals and physical capacity
-
Use of pure therapeutic-grade essential oils (doTERRA), selected to support relaxation, recovery, and overall treatment experience when appropriate
All services are applied within the scope of practice and guided by individual assessment.
Assessment-Led, Data-Informed Care
When clinically appropriate, Hill uses advanced movement assessment tools to objectively analyse movement quality and track progress over time. This supports informed clinical decision-making and helps guide treatment focus across sessions.
Many clients report positive changes early in care. Alongside hands-on treatment, you’ll gain practical understanding of how to move more efficiently, support underused or weaker muscles, and maintain tissue health to help reduce the risk of future injury.
These focus areas describe assessment perspectives and do not represent treatment claims or guaranteed outcomes.
Movement & Biomechanics
Assessment of how joints, muscles, and connective tissue interact during daily and sporting movement, particularly where inefficiency or compensation may contributes to pain or reduced performance.
⸻
Neurological & Complex Presentation
Support for clients with complex or neurological histories where movement, coordination, or functional control has been affected, delivered alongside appropriate medical care.
⸻
Breathing & Nervous System
Evaluation of breathing mechanics and autonomic stress patterns that may influence movement, pain, or recovery.
⸻
Youth & Developmental Movement
Functional assessment for children and adolescents experiencing coordination difficulty, recurrent pain, or reduced confidence with physical activity during growth and development.
⸻
Chronic Pain & Unclear Diagnosis
Support for individuals with persistent pain where imaging or investigations do not fully explain symptoms, focusing on functional contributors rather than diagnostic labels.
⸻
Posture & Spinal Function
Assessment of postural strategies and spinal load tolerance in sitting, standing, and movement, particularly where long-term habits or injury history affect comfort and control.
Clinical Focus Areas

Returning to the Gold Coast — Current Practice
Heal Young Massage was originally established on the Gold Coast and operated there from 2015 to 2019. The clinic has since returned to the Gold Coast as its primary base, operating from Varsity Lakes.
Alongside its Gold Coast practice, Heal Young Massage continues to provide limited, appointment-based services during periodic visits to Central Australia, maintaining long-standing regional connections.
Hill’s current professional focus includes both community care and high-performance support, with a long-term vision of contributing to athlete preparation and recovery pathways leading into the 2028 Olympic Games (USA) and 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
A Consistent Philosophy
Across all settings, Heal Young Massage is guided by a simple principle:
Listen carefully, assess thoroughly, and apply the most appropriate strategy for the individual in front of you.
The clinic remains committed to ethical practice, ongoing professional development, and supporting people to recover, move efficiently, and live with confidence.
