Aged care massage for older adults, with measurement — not guesswork.

Clinic-based aged care massage on the Gold Coast — remedial massage for seniors, including home care package massage, now funded through the Support at Home program. Every session combines objective assessment, hands-on treatment, and muscle activation and movement re-education — delivered by a dual-qualified Exercise Scientist and Remedial Massage Therapist with 20+ years of clinical experience.

Age changes how the body moves — it shouldn’t change the quality of care you receive. My aged care massage clients come to me with long-standing stiffness, tight shoulders and hips, or general aches that have been dismissed as “just getting older.” My approach is the same one I use with athletes: observe carefully, measure objectively, and adapt every session to the person on the table.

Gentle doesn’t mean passive. I measure, treat, and retrain.

Older bodies deserve more careful assessment, not less. Before hands-on work, I take a full history — including medications, joint replacements, osteoporosis, and any conditions your GP is managing — and observe how you actually move.

As an ESSA Accredited Exercise Scientist, I also use laboratory-grade tools such as VALD ForceDecks force plates to measure balance and strength characteristics objectively. These measurements help guide how firm, how long, and where each session focuses — and give us something concrete to compare over time.

And sessions are active, not just relaxing. Alongside hands-on treatment, I include muscle activation and simple movement re-education matched to your ability — waking up muscles that have gone quiet, and practising the movements that matter day to day: standing from a chair, walking steadily, reaching without bracing. The aim is to support you to move with confidence, not just to feel looser for an afternoon.

Pressure is always adjusted to you. Remedial massage for a 75-year-old is not a lighter version of a sports session — it’s a different session, planned around your presentation.

Home care package massage — now funded through Support at Home

If you receive aged care funding through the Support at Home program, remedial and aged care massage may be able to be arranged through your provider when it aligns with your assessed care needs. If you still think of it as home care package massage, it’s the same funding — the Home Care Package program was renamed Support at Home in November 2025. You don’t pay me directly — your provider does, from your package budget. Sessions are held at my Varsity Lakes clinic, and many packages can also assist with transport to appointments.

1

Talk to your care manager

Ask your provider or care partner whether remedial massage fits your support plan and budget.

2

Your provider contacts me

I arrange service details and invoicing directly with your provider — no paperwork for you or your family.

3

Attend at Varsity Lakes

Sessions are clinic-based so you receive the full assessment setup. After each visit, I can provide a written summary for your care team.

A documented, credentialed referral option

I work with aged care providers and care managers on the Gold Coast, delivering clinic-based aged care massage as an external allied service. Every client receives a documented health history, objectively measured baselines where appropriate, and a concise written report-back after treatment blocks — the same process I use with GPs and allied health referrers.

Billing is transparent and auditable: provider-funded sessions are invoiced at my published standard rates less the client’s applicable age discount, with the calculation shown on every invoice. Your clients receive the same pricing they would see on this website — there is no separate provider rate card.

Aged care massage questions

Is this just a gentle relaxation massage for seniors?

No — comfort matters, but sessions are remedial and active. Alongside hands-on treatment, most sessions include muscle activation work and simple movement re-education matched to your ability, drawing on my training as an Accredited Exercise Scientist. The focus is on the movements you use every day — standing up, walking, balance, reaching — so the goal is supporting how you move, not only how you feel on the table.

Can I use my Home Care Package (Support at Home funding) for massage?

Possibly — it depends on your assessed care needs and your provider. Home care package massage is now arranged under the Support at Home program, which replaced Home Care Packages in November 2025, and services must align with your support plan. The simplest path is to ask your care manager whether remedial massage can be arranged under your plan; if so, your provider organises the booking and payment directly with me.

How much do funded sessions cost my package?

Aged care massage sessions funded through your provider are billed at the same published prices as everyone else, less your age discount — for example, a standard 60-minute session for a client aged 90+ is billed at 40% off the listed rate. Each invoice shows the full calculation, so your care manager can see exactly how the price was reached. Current session prices are on the Book Online page.

Do you do home visits?

Sessions are clinic-based at Varsity Lakes, because that’s where the assessment equipment and proper treatment setup are. Many funded packages can assist with transport to appointments — ask your care manager. Mobile visits may be available by prior arrangement for clients who genuinely cannot travel; a travel component applies and availability is limited.

I have osteoporosis / a joint replacement / take blood thinners. Can I still come?

In many cases yes, with appropriate modifications — this is exactly why I take a detailed health history first. Pressure, positioning and techniques are adjusted for conditions like osteoporosis, recent surgery and medications that affect the skin or bruising. If anything in your history needs medical clearance first, I’ll let you know and can liaise with your GP.

Is the clinic easy to access?

The clinic is at 21 Meridien Avenue, Varsity Lakes, with parking close to the entrance. If you use a walking aid or have mobility considerations, mention it when booking and I’ll make sure everything is ready before you arrive, including extra time so nothing feels rushed.

Can my son or daughter book for me?

Yes — family members arrange many of my seniors’ appointments. They can book online, call 0431 051 546 (answered around the clock by my automated receptionist, who can book appointments and take messages — I personally review every call), or email hill@healyoungmassage.com.au. You’re also welcome to bring a family member or carer into the session.

Will you communicate with my GP or care team?

Yes, with your consent. I routinely provide short written summaries to GPs, allied health practitioners and care managers describing what was assessed, what was done, and anything worth monitoring. Coordinated care works better for everyone — especially for older clients with several practitioners involved.
