& Exercise Science
Most chronic pain cases aren’t complicated. They’re under-assessed. Before any treatment, you need to know what’s actually driving the problem — and where it’s coming from.
Online Pain & Movement Assessment
A Structured Clinical Assessment — Delivered Remotely
This is not a general consultation or a coaching call. It follows the same systematic assessment process used in clinic — adapted for remote delivery via video call. You will leave with a clear clinical impression of what’s contributing to your pain, and exactly what to do next.
Full history review including previous imaging and treatment records — everything relevant to understanding your presentation before observation begins
Movement, postural and breath observation via video call — what the body reveals before you describe the pain
Guided self-palpation to identify tissue restriction sites — directed in real time during the session
Clear clinical impression and immediate self-management techniques — not a vague summary; actionable next steps you can apply the same day
Pathway recommendation — in-clinic treatment, self-directed management, or referral to another appropriate health professional
The $50 fee is credited in full to your first in-clinic visit if you book within 14 days of the online assessment.
The Heal Young Method
Four Phases. Zero Guesswork.
Every assessment — online or in-clinic — follows the same structured clinical process. It’s not intuition. It’s a repeatable system designed to find what other practitioners miss.
History
Full case history. Previous imaging. Prior treatments and their outcomes. The complete picture before any observation begins.
Observe
Movement patterns. Postural indicators. Breath mechanics. What the body reveals before you describe the pain.
Palpate
Systematic tissue assessment to identify the fascial restrictions and bilateral asymmetries driving the presenting condition.
Treat
Only then — targeted, evidence-informed treatment. The right intervention, in the right sequence, at the right structure.
In the online assessment, Phase 04 becomes guided self-management — directed pressure, breathing techniques, or movement cues applied by the client in real time during the call. Individual results vary.
“Mum massaged where you told her to, hiccupped like crazy, then the pain was gone.”Message received at 2:14 pm · Daughter of a 67-year-old patient

What 15 Minutes Can Find
The following is an observational account from a patient seen via online assessment. Individual results vary significantly. This account is shared for educational context only.
67-year-old woman · Multiple cervical & thoracic spine surgeries · Post-MVA
Presentation
Multiple cervical and thoracic spine surgeries over many years. Then a motor vehicle accident — imaging confirmed further deterioration. Continuous severe pain for several days following the accident.
Prior treatment — no sustained relief
GP consultation, physiotherapy, acupuncture, multiple medications. No improvement in the days following the accident.
15-minute online assessment
Movement patterns and breath quality observed via video call. A thoracic breath restriction and a compensatory pattern were identified — neither had been detected in any prior consultation.
Guided self-directed pressure
Patient directed to apply pressure to the identified site. Involuntary hiccupping followed — the diaphragm releasing the restriction.
Breathing returned to normal. Complete relief reported the same day. The following afternoon, the patient’s daughter sent an unprompted message confirming the outcome.
Individual results vary. This account reflects one patient’s reported experience following a single 15-minute online assessment. Outcomes cannot be predicted or guaranteed. This is not representative of typical results.
Why the diaphragm? — Clinical context
The diaphragm’s fascial attachments extend through the thoracic cage to the cervical spine, the pericardium, and the psoas. In patients with long-standing spinal surgery history, these fascial lines often develop compensatory restrictions that standard assessments — focused on the surgical site — do not evaluate. Identifying and releasing a diaphragmatic restriction may therefore affect regions well beyond the chest, including cervical and thoracic symptoms.
Who This Is For
You’ve Tried the Standard Options
The online assessment is designed for people who have not found lasting resolution through conventional care — and for those who want a clear clinical picture before committing to in-clinic treatment.
Complex or treatment-resistant pain
Conditions where physiotherapy, chiropractic, and standard massage have not provided lasting relief — and you want to understand why.
Post-surgical pain that persists
Ongoing symptoms following spinal, hip, shoulder, or other orthopaedic procedures. Often there is a fascial or movement component that wasn’t addressed post-surgery.
Remote or interstate clients
Available Australia-wide and internationally. No travel required to get a structured clinical impression of what is contributing to your presentation.
Athletes with recurring or unresolved injury
Performance-limiting conditions that standard sports physiotherapy hasn’t resolved — particularly where fascial restriction or bilateral asymmetry may be a contributing factor.
Anyone wanting clarity before committing
Understand what’s actually happening in your body — and whether in-clinic treatment at Heal Young Massage is your appropriate next step — before travelling to Varsity Lakes.
⚠️ This is not a general wellness service
If you have an acute injury requiring emergency care, or a condition already well-managed by your current treatment team, the online assessment is unlikely to add value. If that’s the case, I’ll tell you honestly in the first two minutes — and the $50 fee will be refunded.
