Government Recognition in 2025:
A Reflection on What This Means

In 2025, I received two invitations I did not expect.

The first arrived in August — an official invitation from The Honourable David Crisafulli MP, Premier of Queensland and Minister for Veterans, to attend the 2025 Multicultural Community Reception at the Speaker’s Green, Parliamentary Annexe, Brisbane.

The second arrived in October — an invitation from The Honourable Lia Finocchiaro MLA, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, to attend the 2025 Chief Minister’s End of Year Reception at Madigan’s Function Centre, Alice Springs Desert Park.

What these invitations are not

These invitations are not endorsements of my clinical methods. They are not awards. They are not certificates of excellence.

They are recognitions of contribution — to the communities I have worked in, and to the people I have had the privilege of serving.

The journey behind them

I arrived in Australia in July 2012. Before that, I spent six years practising in Taiwan — trained in traditional Chinese medicine massage, with a focus on meridian lines and a holistic view of the body and its health.

When I arrived in Australia, I encountered remedial massage and exercise science for the first time. Something shifted. The anatomical precision, the movement-based assessment, the systematic approach to understanding why the body breaks down — it aligned with how I had always thought about the body, but gave me a new language and a new framework.

I moved toward anatomy. Toward movement. Toward assessment-led practice that could help people who were struggling to do the things they loved — walk without discomfort, run again, lift their grandchildren, finish a race.

“I love movement. I live it. And I have spent fourteen years building a practice around the belief that restoring movement is one of the most meaningful things a practitioner can do.”

The two government recognitions reflect two different chapters of that journey.

The Queensland recognition reflects my role in the Chinese-speaking community through iTaiwan — a role I have held since 2014. Language access in healthcare matters. A practitioner who speaks your language, literally and culturally, can find things that others miss. Being recognised by Premier Crisafulli for that community contribution is something I do not take lightly.

The Northern Territory recognition reflects the work of Heal Young Massage in Alice Springs, established since 2019. That community is geographically isolated, clinically underserved, and remarkably resilient. I worked with clients from age 1 to 96. Doctors came for their own pain. Allied health professionals came when their own methods were not enough. Being recognised by Chief Minister Finocchiaro for that work means a great deal.

Why I am sharing this

I moved to the Gold Coast to build something new. A new clinic. A new community. A new chapter.

I am aware that for many people on the Gold Coast, I am unknown. They have not experienced my approach. They have not yet had the chance to decide whether what I do is different — or just another clinic making claims.

These invitations are not proof of clinical skill. But they are evidence of something that matters just as much in healthcare: trustworthiness over time. They confirm that two governments — one in Queensland, one in the Territory — recognised that what I was doing in those communities was worth acknowledging. That is not something I arranged. It is something that happened because of the work.

A note on the online assessment

Recently, a 67-year-old client overseas — with a long history of cervical and thoracic spine surgeries, whose condition had been further affected by a car accident — reported finding relief after a single 15-minute online assessment. Her daughter messaged me the following day: “Mum massaged where you told her to — hiccupped like crazy — then the pain was gone.”

That hiccupping was her diaphragm releasing — an involuntary, objective physiological response. It indicated that the thoracic breath restriction I had identified during the assessment was real, and that addressing it made a difference for her.

I share this because it reflects the same principle as the government recognitions: consistent, honest work, over time, produces outcomes that speak for themselves. The decision to trust me with your situation belongs entirely to you.

Individual results vary. This is one client’s reported experience.
